Club
Members and Friends,
The
Suncoast Optimist Club will
soon have it's very first ever
Governor-Elect! Normally, the Governor Elect is selected at
the North Florida District Convention. This year the person that was
selected was unable to accept the nomination and with no other
competitor for the top spot in the District for the 2012-2013 year,
thus creating an empty seat next to Governor
Daniel Rich
at the
first District Conference held Oct 15-17 at Cape Canaveral. After the
First General Session ended, the Lt Governors had there lunch meeting
to
discuss alternatives. At some point during the Second General Session,
Suncoast
Optimist Club
member Craig
Blethen was asked and
accepted the
nomination for the position. Once the nomination is accepted
and voted on at the 2nd Quarter Conference, to be held in
Panama Beach February 11-13. The
Suncoast Optimist Club
of Sarasota will
have it's first Governor-Elect and subsequently it's first ever
Governor of the North Florida District!
Craig
is a Charter Member of the Suncoast
Optimist Club
and will probably be looking for our help and support once he takes
over
this honorable position.
Congratulations
"Governor-Elect" Craig!

Big
Band Bash - November 27
The
Jazz Club of Sarasota's
annual Big
Band Bash will be taking
place on
Saturday,
November 27, 2010
at the Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 South Tamiami Trail, the events runs
from 12pm - 4pm. This years event will feature Sonny
LaRosa & America's Youngest Jazz Band and Ken Loomer Big
Band.
This event is one of only a few current
fund raisers that our club is participating in. Once again we
will be manning our booth cooking and
selling Sabrett Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, soft
drinks and water.
We will be set up
and ready to sell by 11:00am. Volunteers would be
greatly appreciated, from 1 hour to all day or setup and tear
down. If you would like to bring some friends and enjoy
the music and just be one of our customers, we'd like that too! The
cost is
only
$10
per person for the event.
Of course there no charge if you are volunteering to work!
For more information on the event, please visit the Jazz Club's Website

Our
Annual Christmas party will be taking place on the regular meeting

The location cannot be officially announced, but will be at one of
the following locations (in
order)
1) Lou Schrock's home (health permitting)
2) Geoff and Carol
Profitt's Home
3) Janet Jackson's Home
At the next Board Meeting, the location will be determined and
directions will be sent out.
